Background of the Study
Stroke is a leading cause of death and long-term disability globally, including in Nigeria. In Taraba State, where access to advanced medical care is limited, the role of nurses in the management and rehabilitation of stroke patients is critical (Bawa & Shehu, 2024). Nursing interventions for stroke patients include early detection, administering medications, managing complications, promoting mobility, and educating patients and families about recovery strategies. These interventions are vital for improving recovery outcomes and minimizing disability in stroke patients.
Despite the importance of nursing interventions, there is limited research on the effectiveness of these interventions in Taraba State, particularly in rural settings. This study seeks to examine the effectiveness of nursing interventions in the care of stroke patients in Taraba State, focusing on recovery rates, the quality of life, and the impact of nursing practices on patient outcomes.
Statement of the Problem
Although nursing interventions play a crucial role in the recovery of stroke patients, there is limited understanding of their effectiveness in Taraba State. Factors such as inadequate training, limited resources, and a lack of specialized care may undermine the ability of nurses to provide optimal care for stroke patients. This study seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in stroke care and identify areas where improvements are needed to enhance patient recovery.
Objectives of the Study
1. To assess the effectiveness of nursing interventions in the management of stroke patients in Taraba State.
2. To evaluate the impact of nursing interventions on patient recovery and quality of life.
3. To identify barriers to the effective implementation of nursing interventions for stroke patients in Taraba State.
Research Questions
1. What nursing interventions are employed in the care of stroke patients in Taraba State?
2. How effective are nursing interventions in improving recovery outcomes and quality of life for stroke patients in Taraba State?
3. What barriers do nurses face in providing effective care to stroke patients in Taraba State?
Research Hypotheses
1. Nursing interventions significantly improve recovery outcomes and quality of life for stroke patients in Taraba State.
2. Barriers such as inadequate training, limited resources, and lack of specialized care hinder the effectiveness of nursing interventions for stroke patients.
3. Enhancing nursing training and providing specialized resources will improve the effectiveness of nursing interventions for stroke patients in Taraba State.
